Langkawi was Great! - Part I

We're back from our first holiday this year. One down and nother to go in June. Anyway, our trip to Langkawi was excellent. Our main aim was to bring Miasarah to the Under*water World, bring her swimming in the pool and to the beach and ride on the Cable Car. We managed to do all that and squezzed time to go to Makam Mahsuri, have lunch at The Loaf Bistro, shopping at Ida*man Suri and Hj Is*mail Group, Black Sand Beach, eat lots of ikan bakar, eat laksa and cendol pulut at Laksa Power which is literally beside the airport runway (we even managed to see a MAS airplane land just before we arrived at Laksa Power) and drive around the whole island. Well, let me write in detaile what we did throughout the 4 days 3 night stay..

Day 1: Sunday 19 April
We took the 11:45 MAS flight to Langkawi from KLIA and was greeted at Langkawi Airport by Shah's mom and dad at around 1 pm. We immediately drove to Kon*do Is*tana where we booked a three room apartment. The apartment was not bad. It is situated in Kuah and even though it looks quite run down but the apartment is very clean and comfortable. All rooms are fully airconditioned including the living/dining area. So after freshining up and making prayers, we headed to Langkawi Fair for lunch and shopping for basic stuff like mineral water, bread and stuff to sustain us for the stay. After that we drove around the island in the To*yota Inno*va which we rented. We headed towards Tanjung Rhu and we stopped at the beach which was beautiful with white sands. I didn't go down as Maisarah was asleep while everyone else went to look at the beach and Shah with his dad enquired on the Mangrove Tour. Shah's brother recommended that we go on the tour which included a ride on a bat along the mangrove and into a cave with a stop to feed the eagles. But we decided not to go as Maisarah is still quite small. After Tanjung Rhu, we headed towards Ulu Melaka and stopped at Makam Mahsuri. My mom has never been to Langkawi so we thought it would be nice to give her a piece of Langkawi history by visiting Mahsuri's tomb. After that, we headed back to the Apartment to rest before going out to dinner after Maghrib. We had dinner at Wan Thai Restaurant and it was supperb although the service was quite slow.

Day 2: Monday 20 April
We headed to Pantai Kok/Burau Bay to go ride the Cable Car. We arrived at the Oriental Village where the Cable Car base station was at around 10 am. However, due to the rain fall earlier in the morning, there were lits of clouds and mist at the peak out Gunung Mat Chinchang. So the ride was delayed. We spent the morning walking around the Oriental Village where Maisarah got to see deers and play with rabbits. Maisarah was surrounded by rabiits and she was so happy. She touched them and even sat down on the dground to play with them. That got me shrieking and moving a swift as lightining to pick her up as I didn't want her get her pants dirty but I was too slow. Anyway, after Maisarah was done with the rabbits, we headed to the shops at the village to shop. That was when Shah's mom saw that the cable cars were moving up the mountain. So Shah, his dad, Maisarah and myself quickly bought tickets and got on. I was scared when we were queing to get on the car but much to my surprise I wasn't that scared once we were moving up hill. Maybe because I sat overlooking the view with the hill/mountain behind me. I'm glad I got on as the view was breathtaking! The ride was also very fast. The cable car travels at 3 metres/second. We reached the top which was 710 metres high but there was mist surrounding the top so we could see much of the view. So we quickly headed down.

Next we went for lunch at The Loaf Bistro. Even though it is mainly a bakery with lits of bread an pastry selection there was also a good selection of western quisine such as sandwiches, burgers, main course and some asian food. I had lamb chop, Shah had tuuna sanwich while my mom and mom-in-law had the open bread with breaded prawn sandwich. I must say that my lam chop was delicious but the portion was rather small. The most delicous food we ordered was the breaded prawn sandwich. The portion was huge and the prawn was as big as the bread which was like a burger bun. Maisarah ate bread which was shaped like a babies face and had chocolate rice as hair. She seemed to love it and even I liked it. It tasted like butter! We then packed some more bread and cheesecakes placed in cups (like cupcakes) home. The cakes were yummy. I think I will go visit their KL branch soon to have the cakes.

After lunch, we headed to the apartment for prayers and some rest. At around 4pm, we went to the Underwater World. Maisarah had lots of fun lokking at the fishes, penguins and two seals. However, when we were there the penguins were not swimming so we couldn't see them swim above out heads when we walked in the tunnel underneath their display. There was an enourmous garoupa (spelling??) fish on display but Maisara was scared of it. Unfortunately, the Underwater world no longer has big shraks on display. But all in all, it was quite interesting. After that, we went shopping at the nearby shops. We mostly bought chocolates, all kinds of it! I've been eating chocolates non stop and it is not helping the toothache that I have been experiencing ever since I arrived in Langkawi.

We ended the day by playing at the Cenang beach and having dinner there. Maisarah had lots of fun playing in the water. She cried a bit when we left the beach for dinner. We had dinner at Hj Ram*li's Restaurant at Cenang. We had ikan and sotong bakar with ikan tiga rasa, udang goreng tepung and mixed vegetables. It was certainly a scruptious dinner and a perfect end for a fun-filled day.

I think I'll stop here for now. This post is getting too long. I'll continue with Day 3 and Day 4 of our trip in the next entry.

p/s: pictures have not been downloaded from the camera. I'll post them up later.

Two more days till our HOLIDAY!!!!

I'm ecstatic! We're off for a holiday in Langkawi from 19th to 22nd April and I can't wait. On Saturday, Shah and I will have to go to the mall for a last minute shopping mission. We must get a swim diaper and swim suit for Maisarah. Shah plans to take her swimming in the pool and we must go to the beach as often as we can while we're there. Another must is a trip to the Underwater World so Maisarah can feas her eyes on the fishes. Shah's mom and dad will be meeting us at Langkawi and according to Shah's mom, his dad has made plans on all the places he wants to bring his granddaughter.

I've got to cut short this entry as Shah is home. I don't think I'll be able to post more before we leave on our trip.

Am I right Abang? (edited)

Shah had mentioned that he saw a few blogs/facebook notes with the tag on 'How Well do You Know Your Husband?'. He had asked me to do it a few weeks ago but I forgot about it. Luckily, Fedy tagged me. So here goes. Abang please verify ok?

1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen?
Football or bloopers.

2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Thousand Island

3. What's one food he doesn't like?
Pasta (except for spaghetti bolognase and lasagna especially when it's made by me!)

4. You go out to eat and have a drink. What does he order?
Pineapple juice all the time!

5. Where did he go to high school?
MR*SM Tai*ping and Sek. Menengah Der*ma

6. What size shoe does he wear?
10 1/2

Tuna mayonaise with sweet corn.

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?
Fried chicken (normal fried chicken with salt and tumeric powder or ayam goreng tepung)

10. What is his favorite cereal?
In the UK it used to be, Kel*logs Crun*chy Nut. Now that we're back in Msia occasionally he'd have Ho*ney Stars. But lately we've found a cereal from Kel*logs which tastes the same as Crun*chy Nut but with a different name. I think it was Hon*ey Nut or something like that.

11. What would he never wear?
**added on Wednesday 8 April**
I have to admit, I dont know what he would NEVER wear. But what he does NOT LIKE to wear is the full set of baju melayu with samping and songkok. I wish he would wear the full set of baju melayu as I think he looks handsome in it.

Currently I think he has a few best friends from the office (Has*ril, Khai*rul).

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do?
**edited on Wednesday 8 April**
Worry too much about me and Maisarah. (I read the question wrongly. I thought it was 'What is something HE does that I wish HE wouldn't do?')
Anyway, the correct answer to this question is: He wouldn't want me to shop too much.

16. What is his heritage?
Malay

17. What is his favourite colour?
Blue. Every time he buys new clothes it'll be blue.

18. What is his habit?
He used to play games all the time. Now Maisarah is his toy.

Maisarah

20. Lastly, do you think he will read this?
Yes, he reads my blog all the time and tells me that my blog is boring as I don't post an entry regularly.

Happy Face

This is the face that Maisarah will make when we ask her to make her 'Happy' face. She will squint her eyes and give a big smile showing all her baby teeth. She now has 7 teeth of which one has just came out from her gums. I now know that whenever her tooth is coming out she will bite when she breastfeeds. The latest one was the worst. She bit me until I bled and cried. I scolded her slightly but I didn't have the heart to not give her the B's when she asks for her milk. So I went out and bought a nipple shield. Unfortunately, the first time I tried on the nipple shield and gave her my B's, she looked at it with a wired face and pulled it off. So there goes my RM 30 flying out the window.

Anyway, the reason I am writing today is to update this blog with Maisarah's pictures for her Abah to see all the way from Oman. Her Abah misses her badly and is so worried about the 2 girls in his life. Don't worry Abah! Maisarah and Mommy are fine.

A Slight Breather Before Work Starts Again

I wanted to start this post by apologising for the long absence but that will just be a normal cliche. So I'll just carry on and write something.

Since the last post I have been busy finishing up the syllabus before the students sit for their final exams. Then, continued with marking test papers and assigments. Last week was filled with preparing a documentation for the MQ*A and this week was the start of exam paper marking. I've just fninished marking 41 scripts for one subject and I've got 16 more from another subject to go. Hence, the title.

Anyway, Shah will be going away on a week-long business trip to Oman and Bahrain this Sunday. So we're still at work at 5:52 pm on a Friday as he wants to settle some work stuff before he leaves for the trip. Usually we'd be home byy now playing with Maisarah. Speaking of the cute little baby of ours, she is growing up fast and becoming cleverer by the day. Can you imagine a 16 month baby asing her grandfather for 'Seringgit' and asking to play with his credit card? (I sure pray to Allah that Maisarah doesn't become materialistic.) Anyway, every morning Maisarah will ask for her Abah to bring her 'jalan-jalan' outside the house before we go to work. It's starting to become a routine and I wonder how I will manage to do that and get ready and not be late to work when Shah is away?
