The Pav*lova

We decided to have lunch at Alexis today. Before we sat down I scouted out for any sight of the Meringue or Pavlova. We were in luck as the Pavlova was in the house. We order the Sauteed Butter Mushroom Tapas for starters, Lamb Cutlets for main and Pavlova for dessert. Afraid the Pavlova would run out we ate the dessert first followed by the starter. Verdict? Mushroom tapas was superb, lamb was excellent and it came with a tasty helping of couscous so I'd recommend both of these dishes. Finally, the pavlova was heavenly. Compared to the meringue, pavlova is sweeter and you'll have to eat the cream first before getting to the pavlova where as the meringue is interleaved with cream so you get to eat both at the same time. So for me, between the two, number one is the meringue and second is the pavlova.

'Sleeping' with ladybird

'Sleeping' with ladybird

The ladybird is actually made from carnations. My mom's friend gave it to her after she made it in a flower arrangement class. I wish I could learn flower arrangement because I love flowers and have always tried to do some arrangment whenever I put the flowers I bought into a vase. During my sister's wedding, I made her hand bouquet and got lovely comments from people. Maybe I can start a business from flower arrangment? Hmmm...

Breakaway? Getaway? But Where?

The mid semester break has started. Shah and I want to go on a hotel breakaway next week but we're not sure where and when. If we do go, we would want a place with a big pool because we intend to let Maisarah swim as much as she can. I too want to have a splash in the pool. Gosh I can't remember when was the last time I got into a pool.

I also want to plan a getaway for us in April to celebrate our 8th anniversary. But again I don't have any idea where to. Last year we went to Langkawi. This time it would be great to go to the beach again. Hmm I've got to find time to search for some deals on the net.

I Love Mac N Cheese

We took Maisarah out today because she told us she wanted to get a Donald Duck top. We could'nt find one so we got her an Elmo top instead. She had a whale of a time playing with the toys in Park*son. Then we had lunch at Chil*lies. Maisarah had her usual Mac n C heese while we had our usual, the Southwestern grilled lamb. You can see how much Maisarah loves her Mac n Cheese.

Till We Meet Again

About 5 years ago, just a few days after we returned to Malaysia for good, we got our first car. It was a champagne gold coloured Vios. Shah and I decided to get the Vios without even looking at it in real life. We weren't even sure how it looked like. We just trusted my father in-law's words that it is a good car and worth the money.

We certainly weren't disappointed by the Vios. For almost five years with the car, it didn't cause any troubles and it was very fuel efficient. We also had lots of fond memories with the car. Apart from it being our first car, it was the car we used to drive to the hospital when I was in labor. We also brought Maisarah home for the first time in it. We also went on many roadtrips with the car.

Now, the Vios has been bought over by Shah's brother. He came to take it back to Perlis last Sunday. So goodbye to our trusted Vios, till we meet again.

Bumpy Weekend for Maisarah

Maisarah is already asleep after a tiring day. We went to a wedding and then I brought my mom, aunty and uncle to see our house. Since Maisarah is already asleep I can watch A*J*L. I don't know most of the songs up for competition but I just feel like watching. However, while watching I will try and draft some questions for the test I am giving my students this Friday.

Yesterday we attended a birthday party of one of our friend's daugther. A few minutes after we arrived Maisarah decided to sit on a balloon but fell and knocked her head on a table. A bump immediately appeared. She cried but everything was ok. We had fun at the party and Maisarah played happily with her friends. Thanks Nannoor for inviting us!

New Wheels?

Shah has sold off our Vi*os to his brother so it is now no longer ours. We're quite happy that it is still within the family so we can still see/use it when we're back in Perlis. This decision to sell off the car came out of the blue but we think we have had a good 4 years with the Vios and it is time for us to get a slightly bigger car. However, having said that, we are now at a crossroad and don't know which car to get. We really need to get a car soon because we can't just rely on the Ke*lisa alone. Shah is torn between getting a To*yota Al*tis, Mit*subishi Lan*cer or Fo*rd Fo*cus.

If it were me I would get the Lan*cer in Red because I like it's sporty looks. But I'll leave it to Shah as he will be driving the car most of the time (or maybe all the time if I still can't build up the courage to drive a big car). So, just watch this space.

P/S: Shah, please make a decision quick!

Project "Our Hive": Bricks and Iron part 2

I'm now at Starbucks in Three*Two Square PJ while waiting for Shah to finish Friday prayers. We're on leave today. Earlier this morning we met the first contractor and he gave us some quotations. He also brought us to see one of the houses in our neighbourhood where he has done some renovations, i.e. fixing the grille, walling up the back fence and plaster ceiling. His work looks neat. Anyway, we'll wait for another quotation tomorrow before we make our decision on whom to go with.

With regards to plaster ceiling we're not sure if we want to have one in our living and dining rooms. We might just opt for a plaster cornice around the ceiling. But I would like to have downlights installed in the living and dining rooms. Can we have downlights installed with the current cement rendered ceiling that we have? Hmm...do we really need downlights? Need to ask the contractor later.

In any case, we'll give the contractor the first job of installing the grilles and walling up the fence. If they prove to be good, them we will install new gates and front fence to match the gate. We'll only decide on the plaster ceiling after we have teasted out the house for leaks. Which reminds me I have to get the water connected to the house. Anyone knows how go about doing that? Do I need to call up Jabatan Bekalan Air Selangor?

P/S: I am pretty sure that most entries to come in this blog will be related to our house so please don't get bored with me ok?

Project "Our Hive": Bricks and Iron

As a start to making our house habitable, this Friday we have set an appointment with a contractor. We need to get quotations on changing our back fence into a wall, placing grilles on our windows and doors plus changing the front gate.

We like the look of wrought iron grille with the fancy designs so that is what we hope to get. To be on the safe side we have also contacted another contractor to meet on Saturday. Then we'll choose which contractor to go with and hopefully by end of this month the back fence and grille will be ready. Only then can we put in valuable things into the house without fear of theft.

I'm hoping to document or process of furnishing and decorting our home on this blog so please don't get bored ok? Oh, and if you have tips on settubg up the house, please share with me ok? Thanks!

Live from My New Gadget

I am trying to see if I can blog easily from my new phone. I think I won't be  changing my phone for a long time as I think it looks like I can do almost everything from it and by everything I mean blogging, accessing Facebook and surrfing the Net. It is much faster than my previous SE G900 because of the 3.5G connection and it has a full qwerty keyboard plus a touchscreen interface. It's also white in colour which is so chic! I heart you N97!
