First LRT Ride

Today we took Maisarah to KLCC on the LRT. She was so excited last night that she got up at 2 am and asked if it was time to go. We had to coax her to get back to sleep. We left the house at a little over 9 am and reached KLCC at 9.30 am or so. We took her to the park before doing a little shopping. We left for home close to 1 pm. Alhamdulillah she wasn't cranky on the ride home. The train was packed so Shah had to carry her all the way back. But Shah said it was worth it because Maisarah was very excited to look at the buildings and views along the way. We'll surely bring her on the LRT again.

Third time's the charm

A few days ago Maisarah requested for cupcakes. She specifically wanted the cupcakes to be like in her sticker book, that is with swirls of icing and sprinkled with silver beads. To fulfill her wish, my sister and I we got to work. We were going to try a different recipe with hopes that it would turn out better than our previous two attemps. Alhamdulillah, we succeeded! Althought I still need to improve on my cake decorating skills. So, we'll surely be making more cupcakes in future.

Back at Work

Bye bye Perlis and hello PJ. We left Kangar at 5 am yesterday and we had a pit stop at Juru to pray Subuh. Then Shah drove non-stop to PJ. Alhamdulillah we were not caught in any traffic jam but there were lots of cars on the road. Imagine an army of ants travelling towards a hill of sugar, moving steadily along in a line, well that was how it looked like. Anyway, we reached PJ at 10 am and we spent what's left of Sunday resting at home. I think we slept most of the afternoon.

This morning Shah and I didn't feel like getting up for work. It was torture pushing the duvet off and getting into the shower. But we had to do so anyway. Luckily I only had 1 hour of class today. The rest of the day was spent preparing a for an important meeting on Wednesday which I just got to know that I have to give a presentation on our student's achievement. And, the meeting will be chaired by the COO of TNB and attended by some of the VPs in TNB. Hopefully it will go well.

So, I need to banish all the holiday mood and get stuck into work.

Day 6 - No Cave Track for Us

We headed to Gua Kelam this morning to walk through the cave. unfortunately, the walkway thorugh the cave was damaged and the cave had to be closed. So, we ended up letting Maisarah play in the waterfall stream near the cave. Then we headed to Changlun because Maisarah has been wanting to eat at Marry Brown for the past few months. This was our first time eating at Marry Brown and the food is quite tasty. Although the fried chicken and mashed potato can't beat that of KFC.

Anyway, now we are at a fund raising dinner organised by the Society of Retired Government Officers in Perlis of which Shah's dad is a committee member. After this dinner we'll be heading home to sleep because we plan to leave for KL early tomorrow morning. So, our holiday is nearing its end and we'll have to get back to work on Monday.

Day 5 - Snakes, Grapes and Herbs

As promised, we visited the grape vineyard this morning. I was mistaken. There are three grape plantations in Malaysia, in Perlis, Kedah and Selangor. The one in Perlis grows both red and green grapes. Maisarah loves the red ones as they are seedless and sweet. Apparently the grapes in Malaysia needs to be grown under covers to protect them from excessive water especially during the rainy season.

Before going to the plantation, we visited the snakes living in Taman Ular. I managed to get away from visiting the snake park for the past 5 years we've been coming back to Perlis but not this time. Shah has managed to drag me there. The snakes there are huge and most of them are pythons and king corbras. All at least five feet in length. After that trip, I'll be very cautious every time I go for any activities in the woods or areas with lots of shrubs.

We also visited the Taman Herba or Herb Park. But I have to say the herb park was the least attractive as it was not properly maintained. But I got to learn that there are many types of plants in Malaysia which can help cure cancer. Well, that's all for now. Tomorrow we're off to Gua Kelam.

Day 4 - Enjoying the View

My sister and her hubby arrived this (thursday 3rd Feb) morning. We brought them to Padang Besar and I shopped a little more, oooppps. In the evening we headed to Kuala Perlis for the seaview and loads of seafood for dinner. Tomorrow (in like 10 hours time) we'll be visiting the grape vineyard , the only one is Malaysia I think. Will post pictures later.
