In KL to start work

Just a short entry today. Shah and I arived in KL this afternoon. We left Kangar at 6:30am and arrived at Shah's elder brother's place in Putrajaya at 1:00pm. We had lunch and played with their daughter Sofia for a while before heading off to my parents' place in PJ. The route we used to get to my house will be the route that Shah and I will be using to commute to UNITEN while we're staying in PJ. From the looks of it, it won't take us more than 45mins (taking into account the traffic jam) drive since we'll be using the LDP highway (Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong). So we'll just need to start driving and insyaAllah it'll be OK.

We've got to report for duty at UNITEN tomorrow. Unfortunatel, Shah is unwell. I just hope it won't be a long and tiring day tomorrow because I pity Shah. I don't want him to be sick for too long. I'm hoping his fever will subside tomorrow morning. I've made sure he has taken Paracetemol, Vitamin C and cough drops.

Anyway, as I said at the start this is just a short entry. I just wanted to write to keep this blog updated and to make sure I take note of today and tomorrow for my future memories.

Ciao people...

Holiday ending soon

I am trying to find some ideas to write on but nothing seems interesting enough so I decided to just start typing anything and see how it goes. It's 10pm and Shah, his brother and father are watching live telecast of the Tottenham vs. Chelsea match shown by Astro. His mum is downstairs I think and I am up here surfing away on the net. Jahat betul menantu dia sorang ni kan? But there's nothing else to do. I have asked her if she wants me to do anything but it's already night time and all the dishes from dinner has been washed by me. So I guess I'm entitled to surf. Anyway, after I put in this entry I will go down and see if there is any thing I can do.

Tomorrow Shah, his brother and I are doing to Padang Besar. I may do some shopping there coz it's cheaper than in Kuala Lumpur. I need to find some tops that are made of thin/cotton material so that I wont sweat too much. On Wednesday we'll head down to KL because the next day both Shah and I will have to be in UNITEN to start work. It's 100% certain that we'll have to start on 1 September and we have been told by the HR manager that our position as lecturers there is effective immediately. So no more holiday for us (Sob Sob)!! I wonder how it will be like once we've started working. I'm hoping it will start off slow and steady so that I don't get too overwhelmed by it all. I am praying that we can secure a place at the staff quarters as it'll mean that we wont have to commute all the way to and fro between Petaling Jaya and Bangi. It's not so much the distance but the fact that both Shah and I are still not too confident of driving in KL/PJ. However, I think once we get into the routine and are forced to commute, it will be OK. At least, I'm hoping it will.

I've got so many plans for Shah and I once we've settled into our jobs. Most importantly, I'm planning on joining a gym. It'll probably be the gym at UNITEN. I need to start exercising and dieting coz I feel like I'm getting bigger by the day especially after being in Malaysia. Imagine this, I can't wear my wedding and engagement rings on my ring finger anymore coz they have become too small (or rather my fingers have become fat)!! And everytime I look in the mirror I can see my bulging tummy. So I've decided that I need to cut down on food. Hence my determination to cut down on rice consumption for dinner starting from tonight so I told Shah that tonite I wont eat any rice. Unfortunately, I decided to eat soto ayam and all Malaysians know that soto ayam has nasi himpit (or rice cubes, I think that's what it's called). Thus, it looks like my diet plan is already out the window from day one (or rather it lasted for only 3 hours). Anyway, I have to keep trying. Tomorrow is a new day so a new diet plan will be enforced. How? I'm not too sure. But I'll think of a plan tonight before I sleep.

Hmmm...I guess I've babbled too much so I'll go pray Isya and read a book. Please pray that my diet plan is successful, ok?

We're home..safe and sound

We arrived at Shah's parents place here in Kangar, Perlis yesterday , 24/08/2005. The total joourney time from the moment we left our friend's place in Nottingham untill we reached the front door of Shah's home took 30 hours. It was tiring indeed but when we met our family all the tiredness seem to disappear. Alhamdulillah, luckily enough we're not affected by any jet lag so today we were able to go out to Kangar town and get some stuff plus eat lots of food. We've been eating like crazy. (Note to self: must control all the eating or else I'll be as fat as an elephant.) What else to tell here?

The weather is ok. It's definitely hotter than UK and humid but not as hot as I imagined it to be. So I can't moan. Anyway, I can never moan too much or else people will say that I am very spoilt or 'mengada'. I haven't been watching much TV coz last night we arrived home at 11pm and today we've been busy eating. I was also occupied by my new toy - a blue mini iPod. I know my wishlist says that I want a pink mini iPod but I decided to get a blue one at the airport so that Shah can use it too. So I can now cross that off my wishlist.

Anyway, we'll be here in Kangar until the middle of next week. Then we'll be in Petaling Jaya at my parent's home. Tomorrow we've got to renew our driving license and get our MyKad's. So lots of boring but important stuff to do tomorrow. We also got news today that the car we ordered is almost ready for collection. This means that I've got to sharpen my driving skills soon so that I can be confident at driving our new car. I'm so excited!!

I guess that's all for now. I will again write soon.

Balik kampung...

Hello and apologies to all for the neglect that I have imposed on this blog. I have been busy with thesis corrections, thesis binding, holiday-ing and packing stuff. So it's official...I've got:

5 days left

till I leave for Malaysia. Everything is packed and we just have to clean up the house and hand it back to the landlord this Saturday. Then on Tuesday at 8pm we'll be aborad MH11, departing from Manchester Airport, headed for Kuala Lumpur. There is so much to do and so little time left. I just hope we've covered everything.

Last week Shah and I were on holiday. We started off with a holiday to Bath and Bristol. Then we went to Prague. Some pictures are already up on our fotopage so feel free to look at them. We were planning to go to Venice this week but from the looks of things that we have to do before we leave, we decided not to go. Even so, I really enjoyed the holiday we had. I loved the day trip we had to Stonehenge, Avesbury, Lacock and Castle Combe (all places within 1 hour from Bath). We took lots of pictures. And Prague was heavenly. The weather was great, the architecture was magnificent and we stayed at a really nice hotel. The pictures of Prague are still not uploaded but we'll try put them up soon.

My feeling abpout going home is mixed. I'm excited but sad at the same time. Excited to be home at last, to see everyone, to have our first Ramadhan and Eid in Msia after 7 years and to start a new life. But sad to leave our first home in Nottingham and the life we have here. But having Shah with me means that where ever in the world we are, everything will be ok coz we will work things out together.

Ok..I've got to get back to clearing the office. Then we're going home to clear the house. Take care!
