Updates on Mai-ara

I'm taking some time to post an entry here as this blog has not been active. After the Chinese New Year break, I've been busy with work and have not much spare time too blog. Shah has also commented that it has been quite a while since I've put any updates on Maisarah's development in this blog. So this entry is entirely on my baby girl.

Update 1 : She calls herself 'Mai-ara'
Previously she would call her self 'Yayaya'. But I've noticed a few weeks ago that she would sometimes refer to herself as 'Mai-ara' (with a silent 's'). This was confirmed whe I asked her 'Siapa ni?' while patting her and she would reply 'Mai-ara'.

Update 2: She knows all of our names
Maisarah knows that her abah's name is Shah and her mummy is Anisa. She also knows that Norziah is her Baba and Syed Ahmad is her Habib. She also knows the names of my sister, brother and the maid. So we've now got to teach her the names or her Wan and Mak Tok so that when she can show off her skills when we go back to Perlis.

Update 3: She will laugh when she learn a new word
My mom noticed this. Whenever Maisarah hears a new word and it catches her fancy, she will repeat it many times and laugh. One time, my mom was cooking and she told the maid that she will 'tumis' the chillies herself. Maisarah heard the word 'tumis' and laughed. Then she kept on repeating the word and laughed every time she said it. So now, if we ask her 'Hari tu Baba tu...?' and she will reply 'mis'. Then another time, my mom was sewing and she taught Maisarah the word 'needle' and that the needle is 'tajam' (sharp). So that night, my mom asked her to repeat the word and Maisarah kept on saying 'needle' while laughing. She also will say 'tajam' asfter that. And every time she laughed, she will saya 'ketawa'. She is so adorable!

Update 4: My daughter loves attention and being praised
Every time we sit around the dining table (which is usually after dinner), Maisarah will show off her skills and then clap her hands whil saying 'Aaaaa' so that we will also clap our hands to her antics and cheer her on. A few nights ago, Maisarah was playing with her old swaddling blanket (which is a ctually a cloth nappy) when Shah took the nappy and placed it on her said saying that it was a headscarf (tudung). Then my mom, dad and I said 'Comelnye!!' (So cute!). She then repeated the word 'Comelnye' and removed the headscarf. A few minutes later, she placed the nappy on her head again and said 'Comelnye' while expecting us all to praise her cuteness.

Update 5: I've lost count of her vocabulary
If you were to ask me to list down the words she knows, I would be stumped. Amazingly, Maisarah knows a lot of words and sometimes she amazes us when she says a word that we've never taught her before. One day, she was playing with a scouring pad and we asked her what was she doing. To our amazement she said 'Basuh plate' (Wash plate). My mom and I was shocked as we didn't recall ever teaching her the word 'plate'. So we gathered she must have heard us saying the word many times and learnt it herself. Another time was when my sister and I were talking while I was changin Maisarah's diaper. My sister said the word 'mindset' and Maisarah repeated it a few times that night. Since then, when we ask Maisarah 'What did Mama Ya say?', Maisarah would reply 'mindset'. I pray to Allah that Maisarah's brightness will remain forever.

Update 6: Thanks to Barney, Maisarah now knows the basic shapes
I've mentioned many times that Maisarah is such a fan of Barney and we have bought her a few Barney VCD's. Two of the VCD's teaches kids the basic shapes, i.e. square, circle and triangle. Since Maisarah watches these VCD's almost every monrning and night, she now recognises these shapes. it's so cute to listen to her say 'triangle', 'square' and 'circle' what with all her 'pelat'-ness.

Update 7: Maisarah is such a girly-girl
Did I mention to you that Maisarah loves to play with my lipstick and handcream bottles? She will always go to my dressing table and askes for 'cyeam' (read: cream). Some times, we ask her 'Cream letak mana?' (Where do you apply the cream?) and she would reach to her hand over her shoulder and apply the cream bottle to her back. This is a result of watching mommy apply Yo*ko-Yo*ko on her back every night while thinking that the Yo*ko-Yo*ko bottle is the same as the handcream bottle.

Maisarah also loves being massaged. Every night after changin her diaper, I will massage her legs and body before changing her into her nighties. And all the while I am massaging her she will lay still and enjoy being pampered.

Well, I guess that is long enough for today. I will write more on Maisarah's development later on so that this will me my memory of my daughter's childhood.
