Country life?

I've roughly got 30% more to write for my thesis. But that's not counting the corrections my supervisor highlighted after his first reading of the thesis. Although I anticipate finishing all the corrections within a week or so. Thus, I'm on my way to finising my thesis and submitting it. So to whomever is reading this, please pray that everything goes as planned for me ok? I really need them.

It's Saturday evening and I'm taking abreak today from writing. So here I am making an entry that is long overdue. Since I last put in a post nothing mcuh has happened. We didn't do anything much last weekend (3 & 4 April). That Saturday (3 Apr) we went to the city centre with the main intention of buying lots and lots of books. We ended up buying 7 books. Shah got himself a 'Chambers Encyclopedia' which only cost him £1. I got myself 5 books for £1 each- one novel ('Spellbound' by Jane Green) and 4 books on interior decorations (creating creatve spaces for kids, 100 ideas for the kitchen, 100 ideas for the bathrom and a book on New Country style living).

I must confess that everytime I go the the Bargain Bookstire in Nottingham I'm sure to get at least 1 book on interior decorations. It's become a hobby or probably an obsession. I also have to confess that I haven't read them all but I will read them once I am done with my studies. Home interior decoration has started to become an interest of mine since about 6 months ago and I hope it's not something that I'll lose interest in. Tak nak la hangat hangat tahi ayam je. From the books that I've bought I think I'm starting to get an idea on the room concepts that I like. Generally I love the idea of a New Country style home with pastel shade colours on the wall and floral furnishings. An of course I'll need a country kitchen to match. Bu in truth I'm torn between a country kitchen and a sleek modern kitchen with all the stailess steel appliances. Hmm....maybe I can find a way to amalgamate both styles? I'll guess I'll just have to do more research on this. But with all these ideas running in my mind I know that I'll have to take my time to create my dream home. There are other priorities in life which I need to concentrate on. A dream house is nothing if it's just filled with the 2 of us.

The final book we bought last Saturday was 'Lets Go Europe' travel guide. We actually got it for a mega bargain price of £2 from The Works. I guess the main reason it was so cheap was because it's the 2004 edition. But who cares right? We just want ideas on the places to visit and what to do there. We're planning to travel across Europe after I've finished my PhD and after Shah has finished his postdoc job, insyaAllah. So we've got to start planning our itenarary and start budgeting for the trip. I'm really hoping we will be able to tour Europe so I've got to work hard and finish my thesis+viva+corrections by the end of July.

I guess that's enough of an update. Got to go have some apple pie dessert. So till next time...take care!

Anniversary celebrations..

Roses from him...

29th March came last Tuesday and it mrks 3 years of my marriage to my ever loving husband Norshah Hafeez Shuaib. That morning we headed out early coz we went to help a friend and his family upload their belongings onto a container headed for Msia before they leave for home later that Thursday. After that we had our anniversary lunch at Bella Pasta. It was a lovely and we really enjoyed ourselves. Just eating and talking and having fun with each other. I think that's the best gift ever. Having your loved one with you doing things that both of you enjoy. Then Shah surprised me buy giving me 2 bouquets of flowers..red roses and lovely pink lilies. I reslly loved them and it was a real surprise for me. He said that he'll surprise me with another present later on when I least expect it. I wonder what he'll get me. So we've been a couple for 6 years (9 if you count MRSM and A-level when we were just friends) and it amazes me that we've know each other for that long. Even so I hope we will have more years together, insyaAllah.

and lilies too...

Yesterday Shah surprised me again by taking me to Leicester to have lunch at Nando's. I guess our anniversary celebration kept going on. We arrived in Leicester at around 10:30 ish in the morning and just walked around the city and the huge Leicester market before going for lunch at around 12ish. We had a humungous and scrumptious meal of Nando's hot grilled chicken with spicy rice, chips and coleslaw. We ate till we were stuffed and we felt as though we couldn't get up from the table. But we had too coz the restaurant was filling up. So we decided to walk around the market again to burn off the calories we had just taken on during lunch. At the market we found some delicious looking mangoes, grapes, bananas and strawberries. We bought 2 mangoes for 60p each which we thought was dead cheap. And they were sweet and juicy too. I wished we had bought more mangoes. And the strawberries were so cheap. We got 2 huge punnets for 50p each. Shah got all googly-eyed looking at the cheap priced fruits. I'm sure he was hoping he could buy more coz he's such a 'hantu buah'. But we only bought 4 kinds of fruits. Next time we'll surely head there again to get even more and we'll be sure to bring more bags to carry them all.
