Getting Kelly Serviced

For the first time ever, I am at the service centre alone sending my car. I am very greatful to have a loving hubby who takes good care of my car. But today, my saviour is at work. Even so, before he went he made sure every thing was taken out of the car and he gave me a list of things to tell the service centre advisor. Due to hubby's diligent care for the car, we have had no problems with my Kelly.

My Kelly has been with me for close to 4 years and thus far we have been sending her for servicing at the PJ Seksyen 19 service centre. We have not had any problems with the service offered at the centre or their staff. I'm not too sure about other Perodua centres though.

Anyway, I am now waiting for my sister and her husband to fetch me. I'll be back to fetch my car later today. Ok, their here already. Got to go!

Project "Our Hive": Home Security

Ok, it's time for some updates on the house. The last time I wrote, I mentioned that the furnitures were coming in and indeed they were. Although there was a small hiccup with the delivery for the bed in our master bedroom. The hiccup was sorted last Friday, on the last day of the year 2010. Shah and I ended the year 2010 by spending the whole day at the new house. My mom told us that it is good to recite the whole Surah Al-Baqarah when first moving in to a new house. So, Shah recited the whole surah while I recited the surah Yassin. Hence, with this, we pray that Allah will bless our home and protect us from harm. However, as Allah has always reminded us, we must do our part (i.e. ikhtiar) and not just leave it all to Allah (i.e. tawakkal). Thus, to help us protect ourselves, we think that a home security system is a necessity.

Picture from ADT

So, we have decided that we will go with ADT for our home security system. ADT's main business for home security is in the monthly Customer Monitoring System by which they will monitor our house whenever there is an alarm due to burglary. They will call us and enquire on whether it was a false alarm or if there is actually a burglar in the house. If they are unable to speak to us after caling twice, ADT will immediately contact the local police station.

The system also has a panic button and also emergency buttons for fire and ambalance. So if there was a fire in the house or an accident, we just have to press the button and they will call us to verify the emergency before helping us to contact the nearest fire brigade or ambulance. Another feature which Shah and I think is very useful is the 'Duress' monitoring. Let's say a burglar comes in and forces us to disarm the alarm, then we can use the Duress code to disarm the alarm. ADT will immediately be alerted that we have entered the Duress code by force because it is different to the normal disarm code. Therefore, they will immediately call the police.

For comprehensive security of a regular terrace house, the Safety Advisor recommends the ADT Home Saver 3 package of RM 1786 which includes a smoke detector, 12 window vibration or door sensors, 2 motion detectors, an indoor siren, 2 keypads, the control panel and back-up battery. The one-off installation charge is RM 299. ADT's profit mainly comes from the monthly payment for the Customer Monitoring System which will costs RM 75 per month for a contract of 3 years. ADT also has two othe Home Saver packages which cost RM 650 and RM 1670 but they will provide less number of burglar detection points for the house.

Shah and I think that in the world we are living in now, investing money on a reliable home security system is worth every penny. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Wishes for the New Year

Picture obtained from here.

Happy New Year!!!
As many of us are doing this time of the year, I would like to recap what ABumbleBee has gone through in the year of 2010 before we take a look at what is in store for 2011.

In the last year, we have seen the following:

1. Commencement of Project "Our Hive"
Technically we got the keys to our house at the end of 2009, but all the renovation and furnishing work started in January 2010. A year has passed and we can safely say that we can literally move in today. But, pratically, we have not started packing our clothes. So, we forsee that we the move in will be some time in February, if and only if, Maisarah gets off the waiting list and is enrolled in the school we registered. If not, then we will have to find another school and the move-in will have to be delayed to maybe March or April.

2. Maisarah being fully weaned off from breastmilk
We did that towards the end of November. I must admit, it was not the best of time to wean her off due to some minor hiccups at home. But it happened and Alhamdulillah Maisarah is now drinking Milo with UHT milk from the bottle every night. During the day she drinks Chocolate or Strawberry UHT milk. Last weekend, while cuddling, Maisarah pretended to breastfeed and that act made me feel a tad bit sad. I think she still misses breastfeeding. But I keep reminding her that she is a big girl now and breastfeeding is only for babies.

3. Potty training Maisarah
November also saw us potty training Maisarah. She now can tell when she wants to pee. But occasionally there are still some accidents. Especially when she is too excited doing a certain activity that she forgets about telling us she wants to pee. Like yesterday, she was happy sprinting with her Abah from one end of the garden to another when suddenly she came to me saying she wanted to pee and then it immediately happened. This happens once or twice every week. We're still yet to get her off the diaper at night and she can't make number 2 without her diaper on.

Well, I guess those three are the biggest events that happened this year. There has been nothing much to write about work-wise. Everything is going on as usual at work, maybe even getting much more boring than the years before.

What to look ahead for in 2011?
We are eager to move in to our new home and start a whole new adventure.
Maisarah is eager to start kindergarten. The lady at the kindy said that they will call us some time this week if there is an opening for Maisarah. If we do not hear anything than we'll have to start the search for a kindergarten again.

What we hope to find in 2011?
My hubby is still in search for a new job. I am praying hard that he finds a job he likes as soon as possible.
I am in search of a source of side income which could possibly one day be good enough such that I can become a stay at home mom.

So, please Allah, bless us with a good year ahead filled with happiness, good health and properity so that we can become better servants to You. I also pray that the year 2011 be be a happy, properous and blessed year for all of you too.

Disney On Ice is Coming Again

This week I got a promotion booklet from Maybank via post. I seldom look at these booklets but this time I felt like flicking through the pages. I guess it was fated, there was an advert for the next Disney on Ice show on 1st to 3rd April 2011. The last time we went, Maisarah (and Mommy) had a great time. Maisarah couldn't stop looking at the photos and watching the videos I took for months after the show. I promised her we'll take her again when they come in 2011.

I asked Shah and he said we can go again. So, I'm going to make full use of the discount given to Maybankard holders. If we get the tickets before 31st December, I am entitled to get 20% discount. The offer then reduces to 15% discount from 1 January to 15 March 2011. Card holders of Toys 'R Us and MPH Bookstore are also entitled to get t15% discount. You can get more information from TicketPro's website.

Last time, we went for the Saturday matinee show which starts at 1 pm. I think this time we will go for the 1 pm show again. All the show times for the three days can be obtained from the same website.

Anyone care to go with us?

A Year Older

Yesterday I officially grew older by a year. These days celebrating birthdays are not as enjoyable as they used to. A sign of me being more matured I guess. But I am happy I got to spend the day with my husband, almost throughout the day since we are in the same building. And last night I was treated to two birthday cakes. One was a butter cream cake ordered by my mom which was shared with my brother who celebrated his birthday last November. The other was a chocolate cake which Maisarah specifically requested. Maisarah thought that yesterday was her birthday too. She said 'Today is Mommy and Maisarah's birthday!'. So, as usual she got to blow the candle and cut the cake.

I do not wish for any presents this year as I think I have received quite a lot from my dearest hubby throughout the year when we started decorating an furnishing our house. Also, for all the love and support he has given to me since we have been together.

But....I did get a present for myself last Saturday and am enjoying it to bits.
